Ocean Country Partnership Programme Ghana. MPA Schematic and Donor Activity Stocktake 2026

Abstract

Following the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP)‑hosted Marine Protected Area (MPA) and Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) workshop in Ghana in February 2023, stakeholders noted that the marine and coastal support landscape is highly dynamic, with multiple actors operating concurrently, making it challenging to maintain a clear, up‑to‑date picture of donor activities.

In response, the OCPP developed two complementary resources:

  • An MPA schematic, which maps Ghana’s current progress and long‑term ambitions for MPA development across key policy and implementation drivers (in PDF format).
  • An MPA donor activity stocktake, which consolidates past, ongoing, and planned initiatives alongside their responsible organisations (in Excel spreadsheet format).

These two resources aim to improve visibility for government and donor partners, reduce duplication, and support better alignment of future programmes with national priorities. Both documents are intended as ‘live’ resources, to be updated regularly by users as activities evolve, new commitments emerge, and Ghana’s MPA agenda advances.

These resources may not be fully accessible for all users. If you need copies in a different or more accessible format, please contact Communications@jncc.gov.uk.
